1. DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE

Welcome to the third edition of the NRCSA listserv announcement. Since our last issue we have added 2 new online courses to the www.safeaging.org website. WISQARS (Web-based Injury Statistics Query and Reporting System) provides an overview of WISQARS fatal and non-fatal injury data. Program Evaluation provides an overview of the evaluation process, including its role in program planning and development, the creation of logic models and measurable objectives, and the elements of data analysis and report writing.

We also added 3 new podcasts to our website. The purpose of these podcasts is to share the latest information about senior safety, including fall prevention, pedestrian and motor vehicle safety, and prevention of elder abuse.

These courses and podcasts are free of charge and require no registration to access. In addition to the items highlighted in this issue we have many more to view on the www.safeaging.org website. I invite you to bookmark the site and visit us often.

Sincerely,

Robert L. Seidman, PhD

2. WHO ARE WE?

The mission of the National Resource Center for Safe Aging (NRCSA) is to gather and share the best information and resources on senior safety, including fall prevention, pedestrian and motor vehicle safety, and prevention of elder abuse.

The primary focus of NRCSA is to create and sustain an online community of public health and senior care professionals whose work involves teaching and promoting safety and safe practices among the elderly. This is accomplished by building the web site www.SafeAging.org into the premier online resource center utilized by professionals to identify, experience, comment on, and share resources and best practices.

The National Resource Center for Safe Aging is sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention and Division of Violence Prevention.
